5 Mendelssohn's "Elijah"
The Armstrong International Cultural Foundation will celebrate its 13th season of performing arts excellence when the doors of its new $20 million Armstrong Auditorium open September 5 in Edmond. As part of the grand opening celebrations, internationally acclaimed British sculptor David Wynne will unveil his masterpiece, Swans in Flight. Immediately following grand opening ceremonies the Armstrong College Choral Union and full professional orchestra will inaugurate the concert hall with an encore presentation of Mendelssohn s Elijah. 'Never was there a more complete triumph never a more thorough and speedy recognition of a great work of art.' So reported The Times of London after Elijah s premiere on August 26, 1846.

8 UCO Artist-in-Residence Valery Kuleshov
"This concert is one of many firsts," said Lori Alspaugh, director of development for the UCO College of Fine Arts and Design. "This will be the inaugural performance in the CTL recital hall, the first public debut of a recently donated Steinway by the Brisch family and the first time Kuleshov will perform '12 Preludes' by Alexander Scriabin." Kuleshov, a first prize winner at the Pro Piano International Competition and a Silver Medal winner at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will also perform Suite on M. Mussorgsky's Opera "Boris Godunov" by Igor Khudoley and Transcendental Etude No. 4 "Mazeppa" by Franz Liszt. The CTL recital hall is an intimate venue and since seating is limited, early reservations are encouraged.

12 OBS Streak
The Oklahoma Bicycle Society's Streak will start at the main pavillion in Mitch Park (first riders out at 7:50am) and consist of a 25M., 40M., and 100K tour. Registration and packet pickup will start at 6am. Pre-register at Flatire Burgers on Saturdy, Sept. 11 between 11am and 2pm and receive a free burger. Packet pick-up will be available at Flatire Burgers on Saturday or at the MAC the morning of the ride. Live Music will be performed by the Tall Cotton String Band. After the ride pasta will be served at the Mitch Park Pavillion by Johnny Carino's.

Faculty Artist Concert Series. The concert includes vocal and instrumental chamber music from baroque through modern times, with each selection played on the historically approriate horn.
