University of Central Oklahoma - Old North

Edmond Attractions, Historic Sites & Route 66

First opened for classes in 1893, Old North is noted as the first building of higher education in the  state of Oklahoma. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, Old North is a community icon and the enduring symbol of the University of Central Oklahoma.

After closing for renovation in 2001, Old North reopened in February of 2017. Construction crews were able to maintain some of the original features, including chalkboards, replica tin ceilings, and replica classrooms. Classes are again being held in Old North, which was added to the national register in 1971.
