Nothing strengthens friendships quite like a fun weekend to share laughs, drinks and memories so we’re here to help you plan the Ultimate Girlfriend Getaway in Edmond (UGGIE) in the heart of Oklahoma.
From places to stay to where to play, we’ve got the goods to please everyone in your friend group, beginning with one of our hotels or one of the dozens of casual to classy vacation homes for a sleepover like you used to have when you were younger. Girlfriends Weekend math = delicious food we didn’t have to cook ourselves + cute boutiques + bonding fun. Also, calories don’t count on UGGIE so we’re not skipping any meals!
Friday Evening:
One thing most girlfriends can agree on is kicking things off with chips, queso and guacamole and a good margarita so heading to 3 Tequilas, Los Arcos, Hidalgo’s or Alfredo’s is always a popular choice. Edmond is home to more than twenty Mexican restaurants. When the sun goes down, the live music turns up with options like Frenzy Brewing, The Patriarch Craft Beer House & Lawn, Sidecar and the UCO Jazz Lab. For wine and cocktails with an elegant vibe, check out Round Midnight bar and jazz lounge in downtown Edmond.
Saturday:
Brekkie or brunch is how we fuel up for our action-packed day starting with craft coffees at Cafe’ Evoke or Ellis Island or big breakfasts at Sunnyside Diner, Neighborhood Jam and Hunny Bunny Biscuit Co. Snap a group selfie in downtown Edmond at one of our dozens of painted murals on our local shops. Check out our Farmer’s Market on Saturdays through the fall and shop small at our trendy boutiques including Lulu & Lo’s, Bison Creek, Mainstream Boutique and Edit & Co. Love vintage finds? Stop in to Broadway Antique Mall for three floors of antiques. Shop home decor at Heritage house and Sterlings Home Decor & Gift.
Grab lunch at Othello’s for Italian or check out the many food options in the Edmond Railyard collective where your group can choose from wings and salads to pizza, Italian or cajun and sit indoors or on the large open patio.
From downtown Edmond, take a short drive south to Stephenson Park District for dining at Hideaway Pizza or Cafe 501 followed by shopping at Mode and its next door neighbor Parcel for home decor and gifts.
If you’re feeling crafty, get creative at Oops I Arted or A/R Workshop for a wood sign or other DIY home decor for a keepsake from your trip. Relieve some stress at Chaos Factory rage room or catch a flick together at Icon Cinema or ShowBiz Cinema.
For a dress up dinner that evening, try fine dining at Fait Maison, The Lounge Craft Kitchen & Cocktails, Signature Grill, Charleston’s or Boulevard Steakhouse.
Sunday:
Early morning risers can enjoy a nature walk at one of our trails at Stephenson Park, Mitch Park or out on Route 66 in Arcadia Lake before a casual breakfast at the Big Biscuit or the classic diner Around the Corner.
Finish your shopping list at our many national brand stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, HomeGoods and Academy Sports and Outdoors before those final UGGIE hugs. Thank you, ladies, for making Edmond a part of your memories!
